About This Site

Every Motorcycle Riding publishes practical reviews, comparisons and how-to guides for touring and long-distance riders. We cover the gear that decides whether mile 400 feels fine or miserable: seat cushions, throttle assists, handlebar phone mounts, waterproof luggage and heated riding gloves.

Riding Safety

No accessory makes a motorcycle safe. Wear a properly fitted DOT approved helmet, eye protection, armored jacket, gloves, long pants and over-the-ankle boots on every ride, and take a rider safety course if it has been years since your last one.

A throttle assist is a comfort aid, not cruise control. Keep your hand on the grip, make sure the throttle still snaps closed on its own, and never use one in traffic, rain or on twisty roads. A phone mount is for glancing at a route you set before you rolled out: pull over to touch the screen, and check the mount and its bolts before every trip.

Heated gloves run on batteries or the bike's electrical system. Check wiring for chafing, never ride with damaged heating elements, and stop if a glove gets uncomfortably hot. Strap luggage so nothing can shift, dangle near the wheel or exhaust, or block your lights and plate, and stay within your bike's load limits. Seat cushions can raise you slightly, so confirm you can still put both feet down at a stop.
